Mr Durgappa 48yr old Cobbler from Dharwad was suffering from Diabetic Gangrene since jan. 2017 & was referred to me in April 2017 by team of doctors from Civil Hospital Dharwad for expert opinion to salvage the foot as patient is very poor &difficult to take care of his family after losing Limb. Being Cobbler has to work daily to earn for his family.
A challenge indeed to salvage Foot, design Off-loading Footwear after surgery till healing & Long term offloading Footwear to prevent recurrence of ulcers in Foot.
As Cost of DF salvage in private hospital was not affordable by patient, we were permitted to operate in Civil hospital Dharwad after addressing Government Doctors on Diabetic Limb Salvage. Thanks to District Surgeon Dr.Kuknoor for allowing me to treat this poor Cobbler to save his Foot & prevent Amputation.
