A 28 year old gentleman presented with complaints of Left lower swelling since 4 days extending up to upper thigh. It is associated with bursting type of pain on walking, hence unable to walk. Has smoking / alcohol abuse. No other comorbidities On examination gross swelling with redness in the legs. Outside doppler suggested of Left common femoral vein DVT (Deep venous thrombosis).
CT Venogram test performed - It showed extension of thrombus into common Iliac vein and IVC. Also he had Pulmonary embolism in the left lower sub segmental artery.
Procedure performed - Day 1 - IVC filter insertion + Catheter directed thrombolysis using thrombolytic agent
Day 2 - Check Venogram + Aspiration of acute clots + Venoplasty (using a balloon)
FInally, Patient started walking the next day. He was discharged the third day, walking.
Acute DVT requires immediate medical attention and appropriate treatment, including anticoagulation therapy, and are crucial to manage and prevent further complications.
